This Week’s Update
Mock Exam
The mock exam video was definitely time-consuming. I’ve spent five days working on it, and I still haven’t finished it yet. I also haven’t started on the Vietnam Hat blog or the Hong Kong blog—whether it’s because I’m too busy with work or just procrastinating, I’d say it’s a mix of both.
However, I’ve started working on my English reading, and it’s going well. I’ll keep finding ways to challenge myself, like speaking with a native speaker or students. But for now, I’ll keep it low-key and trust the process.
Ultimate
I didn’t get to play as much as I was supposed to this week due to an injury I’ve been dealing with for over two months now. So, I asked Rod for the week off—let’s see if I can recover by next week.
The interview planning has been going well so far, but I wasn’t careful enough when putting the microphone back in the box after using it. Now, it’s been damaged on the road, and I’m not sure if it still works.
This week, the Beta team put on an incredible performance—better than ever before. They executed all the fundamental skills needed to score: good throws, timing, reading the disc, and catching with almost no drops.
Reading
I’ve started reading The Robot Thing (suggested by Rod). My first impression after a few chapters? It’s fascinating. The poor, innocent robot just wants to live a peaceful life, but it looks like he’ll have to learn things the hard way.
Little Heart Organization
One more thing—on Sunday, Rod took us to the Little Heart Organization for a meeting with the founder to explore ways we could support the children there. The kids call him “Dad.”
I was nervous as hell during the meeting, but after that, four 12th-grade students gave us a tour of their daily living environment. It was eye-opening. One thing that stood out? The kids speak better English than I do.
We hope to provide extra classes to help them prepare for the upcoming Bac II exam. But beyond that, we hope they’ll fall in love with ultimate frisbee—because a whole new journey is waiting for them. My team and I can’t wait to introduce them to a world they’ve never experienced before.
By the way, did I mention that I went to Vannda’s listening party?! Well, next post!
