This was our second day in Singapore, a special day to celebrate the remarkable man’s birthday, the one who has been a source of inspiration and a role model to me since I met him, the one who has made a meaningful impact on the lives of many around in so many ways, the one who is incredibly smart yet so humble and kind, and that one is Rod.
Swee Choon
We kicked off the day by having breakfast at a local Chinese restaurant called Swee Choon (and hey, look, this time, I noted down the restaurant’s name, unlike my trip to Thailand; surely, I’ve learned from my mistakes! xd). After finishing the delicious Chinese food, our next stop couldn’t have been better—we headed to the top. Rod booked a table at the rooftop of Marina Bay Sands, known as CE LA VI.

CE LA VI – Marina Bay Sand Rooftop
Being atop the building surrounded by numerous modern and fine buildings gave me a feeling that’s hard to put into words. I felt like I was living the best life among a million stars. I wish I could pause for a moment and to just really enjoy whatever was there. And again, all of these would never have happened without Bong Rod.

but definitely the best one

When it comes to travel, I always find myself enjoying small talk about this and that with the bros, and for once in a while, a huge laugh and a big joke seem to be my favorite moment.

After a long conversation and enjoying snacks and cocktails (I totally made the right decision to order that one), we were looking for more places to explore. Since we usually don’t have an itinerary, we just go with the flow. I wished we could stay a little longer, nap, and slow down a little more, but time was ticking, and there were more places to explore. So, I bid farewell to CE LA VI for now, promising to return when the chances are given.

Orchard Road
Our next stop was Orchard Road. We saw the news that there is the biggest Nike store in Southeast Asia here, so we decided why not go to check it out. Orchard Road is a busy street lined with major chains, high-end malls, designer stores, and food courts—a vibrant hub of Singapore’s metropolis.
After a long sightseeing walk, we did not buy anything. I was tempted to purchase an Adidas bag but decided not; I told myself it wasn’t a necessity that was worth paying for. But frankly saying, I was broke and couldn’t afford it

And we headed back to the hotel, took a nap to recharge, and got ready to celebrate Rod getting one more year older, wiser, and healthier.
