I gotta admit that I haven’t been satisfied with my recent performances at the gym. I felt exhausted and unwell, which led to not meeting the standards I expected of myself.
of course, I do have cheat days, that day is today, I didn’t start the day right—I woke up late, skipped breakfast, didn’t finish watching my favorite traveling show “Parts Unknown” by Anthony Bourdain, didn’t have coffee, and ended up going to the gym much later than usual. I believe routine is essential in everyday life; it’s like a domino effect. Once you start the day right, everything else falls into place. Now, it’s miserable.
I think my poor performance is partly due to skipping breakfast this morning and also because of my health condition after staying up until 3 a.m. for two nights during the trip, having youthful conversations about love and other topics.
My legs were shaking during the barbell squats and trap bar jumps, but I managed to finish the workout. However, I didn’t complete as many exercises as I had planned, such as adding 5kg weights and doing split squats.
But it’s okay. Sometimes, you have to know when to step back and give yourself a break. Pushing too hard can lead to breaking. Knowing your limits isn’t a weakness; it’s a sign of wisdom. It’s about learning to accept what you can’t do at the moment and striving for improvement in the future. As long as you don’t give up, keep showing up, trust the process, and allow yourself room to grow, you’ll continue to make progress, don’t you think so?
